Does hypnotherapy work?
As a clinical hypnotherapist i often have people ask me “Does hypnotherapy work?
THIS INCREDIBLE GIF shows us how our brain forms connections and communicates with the many different regions of the brain. A neural pathway is made up of many thousand of neurons connecting as you can see here to form a complex network. This one pathway shown could represent a thought, a memory or a pattern of behaviour that makes up your personality.
The discovery of this network by the neurosciences was a break through proving that we have the ability to create connections and break them also known as neural plasticity
What does this mean for you and me? It means that we are not “born this way” or “this is just how I am”. You are the way you are because it is a choice you have made.
Your environment and interpretations of it have shaped you to be the person you are today and your neural pathways are creating imbalance to your gut and cardiovascular system and immune system.
As easily as this connection is made it can just as easily let go and prune away the bad habit, addiction, maladaptive coping mechanism, bad memory or thought process that keeps you in a place of unhappiness or illness.
Does hypnotherapy work for everyone?
As a clinical hypnotherapist and stress reduction teacher I rely on this process to help you to break the connections that are not serving you and create connections that will.
A life time of strengthening a bad habit can be hard to break like quitting sugar, quitting smoking or alcohol addiction etc though this is just one of the areas that Hypnotherapy treatment shines above all else as research has shown.
Now we just need to get the word out there that certified Clinical hypnotherapists that are recognised by reputable governing bodies such Australian Hypnotherapists Association are trained in hypnosis and psychotherapy. We are very different to the stage hypnotists that do do tricks for entertainment alone. If you get the change to catch a hypno stage show I’d highly recommend it too!
